Yes. Cooking or roasting whole soybeans is not necessary when fed to ruminants. The age of the cattle will influence how well the unprocessed soybeans are utilized. Older cattle tend to better utilize unprocessed soybeans than do calves less than six months of age. Remember that raw, unprocessed soybeans contain approximately 37 percent protein. Soybean meal products contain 44 to 49 percent. Raw soybean are high in fat. As a supplement for beef cows, when priced economically, would recommend no more than 3.5 lb/hd/da. Make sure all cows have equal access to consume their share.
