Beef Cattle EPDs, Selection Indexes, and Gene Markers
Learn more about beef cattle EPD’s, Selection Indexes, and Gene Markers. With the bull sales quickly approaching, all the information presented in a sale catalog can be really confusing. This webinar will help you sort out what the information means and how it can be applied. This webinar will be presented by Dr. Bob Weaber, University of Missouri and Dr. Matt Spangler, University of Nebraska. Bob and Matt are beef cattle specialists with a focus in Beef Cattle Breeding and Genetics.

Beef Cattle Reproductive Cycle, Estrous Synchronization Protocols
Learn more about the understanding and application of estrous synchronization protocols for beef cows and heifers. With the breeding season quickly approaching, it is not to early to start the planning process. This webinar will help you sort out synchronizing protocols that are used for heifers and cows and application of those protocols. This webinar will be presented by Dr. Glenn Selk, Oklahoma State University and Dr. Les Anderson, University of Kentucky. Glenn and Les are beef cattle specialists with a focus in Beef Cattle Reproduction. They have a tremendous ability to help you understand this information and answer any questions that you might have.

Genetic Selection to Optimize Cow Size
eXtension Beef Cattle Clearinghouse Community of Practice conducted a webinar titled ” Genetic Selection to Optimize Cow Size”. Presenters are Dr. Matt Spangler, University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Dr. Bob Weaber, University of Missouri. Presenters will discuss and quantify genetic relationships between mature size and other production traits. Genetic trends in these traits over the past decade will be explored. The impact of mature size on breeding objectives and input costs will be discussed. Recommended methods to change mature size of beef cattle will be presented. Finally, nutritional requirements of different mature sizes and metrics of efficiency will be compared.
